Why Was Corozal Man Murdered?

Police are investigating Tuesday night’s fatal shooting of 55-year-old Santos Antonio Escobar in Corozal Town.

Residents reported hearing over 18 gunshots just after 8:30 p.m. on 5th Street North in the Rainbow Town area. A white vehicle was also seen slowly leaving the scene after the shooting.

According to reports, Escobar had just arrived from Belmopan and was socialising outside his home with family members when a male person approached.

Escobar sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed by his son to the Corozal Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not confirmed a motive.
