Construction Begins on New Preschool in Esperanza Village
Construction has begun on a new preschool building in Esperanza Village, a project contracted by the Ministry of Education and scheduled for completion by December 2026.
Area Representative for Cayo North East, Orlando Habet, confirmed the start of the project in a Facebook post, noting that “at long last, the young children of this growing community will have a dedicated, purpose‑built facility designed specifically to support their early learning and development.”
The preschool will be located next to the existing primary school, with Habet describing the placement as strategic, giving young children access to sporting facilities and a proposed natural tree park on the same compound. He added that the area will be fully fenced.
The announcement comes less than a week after the House of Representatives approved a $47 million loan from the World Bank for the construction and rehabilitation of preschools across Belize.
It has not been confirmed whether the Esperanza project is directly tied to that financing.
